I love the overall look & feel of the new Magic Keyboard, but I hate the faux leather material on the underside. It even has a bit of that material that sticks out past the aluminum part making the edge sharp 🤦🏻‍♂️

The old polyurethane material was so easy to easy to damage, especially around the keys. That alone is a massive improvement.

Agreed, it is annoying that they have no trade-in program for the old accessories. It's wasteful for them to be sitting around otherwise, and a pain to have to try selling them.... which I will be doing with the old magic keyboard now.

I cursed Apple at first and wanted to use my old Magic Keyboard. After getting the new one, a smile came to me because now I get it. I will get a back-up iPad on the cheap to use on the road and in certain conditions. The M4 performance on my compute intensive tasks is breathtaking. Cannot wait for some apps to unleash the full power of this iPad. For most normal day to day users, the old generation iPads are more than enough. . My grandson will appreciate me loaning him my old one.

How does new Magic Keyboard work using iPad Pro in your lap?

For my use case it definitely doesn’t justify upgrading from my M1 Pro and Magic Keyboard. Other than weight, I didn’t find the trackpad or keyboard experience lacking. I wish Apple could focus on pushing iPadOS to more of a mac experience. Where the lines between using a MacBook and iPad Pro are blurred.

Not that Apple really does bundling, but it would be nice to see a free Apple Pincel with purhcase of iPad Pro and Keyboard. Also, I thought there an upgrade to the wattage of the new keyboard. Is it still the same 20Wh?

Absolutely agree on trading in the pencil and keyboard, that would actually be a compelling case for me to upgrade from an M1

I think your case is different from mine, because if I'm not mistaken you was looking to upgrade because you wanted a better storage configuration. I'm currently rocking a 1TB M1 iPad Pro... and I personally don't want to downgrade to a lower tier storage. So, it's not a big deal upgrading to the newer M4 iPad Pro... given the cost factor. But if I could get the new accessories with my M1 iPad Pro, I'd definitely settle for it. Because I picked up a 1TB M4 iPad Pro and I'm more excited about the keyboard.

What do you think of display scratch risk due to the aluminium side facing and touching directly the screen?

Only reason for the new keyboard, is to enjoy the ESC key :D

With all the talk about no stickers in these boxes by everyone who reviews these things, I'm thinking of taking the piles of stickers I have from all my devices over the years, and selling them on ebay. Maybe I can make enough to buy one of these... Honestly, I've never understood the preoccupation with the stickers.

The 13” iPad Air starts at 1069 USD where I live, do you think it’s still a good value? I’m leaning more and more towards saving up some more money to buy the 13” pro instead, the reason being it’s lighter/thinner, has a higher refresh rate and is compatible with the new magic keyboard:)
